Norman Rockwell created dozens of images related to World War II. What happens when an artist known for his humor tackles the serious subject of war? Oneail explores how Rockwell’s work departs from earlier artistic interpretations of American conflicts. She also discusses Rockwell’s choice of themes.

Jane Oneail is an independent scholar. She holds a master’s in Art History from Boston University and an M.A. in Education from Harvard University.[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]
