Wright Here, Wright Now.

For the past 30 years, the Wright Museum has worked to realize the vision of its founder, David Wright, to become an institution dedicated to teaching future generations the history and lessons of World War II. Together with his wife Carole, the Wrights have ensured that the influence that America’s involvement in WWII had on American society is preserved, placed in context for current generations, and never forgotten. Thirty years on, the museum is home to an impressive collection. David Wright’s vision has become an iconic part of both Wolfeboro and the landscape of WWII preservation.

Now it is time to turn our eyes toward the next 30 years.

It is up to all of us to ensure that the lessons World War II taught us are not lost and that future generations have a place to experience the impact the “Greatest Generation” had, not only on the global stage, but also in our own country and culture. Unique to traditional World War II museums, the Wright Museum represents both the home front and the battlefield. It provides the historical context of a pivotal time in American history and showcases how the Greatest Generation’s enduring legacy continues to shape our country today.

Cutting-edge exhibits like our “D-Day: Freedom from Above” interactive experience brings that period alive in an engaging way that speaks to younger visitors. Our military gallery—featuring tanks, half-tracks, jeeps, and motorcycles, along with uniforms and World War II-era weaponry—provides tangible connectors to our past. Just as importantly, the Home Front Gallery gives insight into what life was like back home during the war.

Then, there are our legacy exhibits. These traveling exhibits preserve precious pieces of the Greatest Generation, like Private Charles J. Miller’s beautiful and poignant watercolors, painted during his time in the South Pacific, depicting the war through the eyes of an everyday American soldier whose keen insight and artistic talent deserve to be shared with the world.

Your support on August 13th will enable us to continue bringing both high quality traveling exhibitions and in-house display to the public view. Next year, we are pleased to be offering an exhibit on the Cold War, a first for the Wright Museum. This special exhibit will explore the ways in which World War II shaped global affairs for decades, particularly through the lenses of espionage and the space race. You won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind display, featuring items on loan from the Imperial War Museum in London and the International Spy Museum in Washington DC, as well as a unique display of Cold War-era toys and memorabilia!

We are “Wright here, Wright now” because of the passion and dedication of David and Carole Wright to ensure that this pivotal point in our history is preserved and accessible to all. Join us on August 13th to help support the legacy they created and preserve its future. We will be holding exciting giveaways throughout the day as we celebrate our 30th anniversary season.

If you make any day in August your day at the museum, make it August 13th and join us—Wright here, Wright now.
