The Wright Museum is excited to offer a special presentation on the history of Scouting in WWII this August.
On Friday, August 7 at 2pm, Eagle Scout and Wright Museum intern Matthew Sedutto will highlight the activities of Boy Scouts during the war. Scouts served in roles ranging from scrap drivers and messengers to civil defense volunteers.
Matthew, a student at Norwich University, has been interning at the Wright throughout the summer to learn about behind-the-scenes museum work. He has spent much of that time working to bolster the museum’s scouting display in the Home Front Gallery. Matthew also volunteers at the Lawrence L. Lee Scouting Museum in Manchester, which recently transferred some historic WWII-era scouting objects to the Wright for an enhanced display.
We invite the public to join us for this special presentation on Friday, August 7 at 2pm in the museum’s DuQuoin Education Center. The program is free for current members of Scouting America, Girl Scouts USA, and museum members, and included with regular museum admission for the general public.
